About the Role: Courier/Swing Driver
As a Courier/Swing Driver at Federal Express Corporation, you will be responsible for operating company vehicles to provide courteous and efficient delivery and pick-up of packages. This role requires meticulous checking of shipments for conformance to FedEx features of service and providing coverage for all assigned routes within the station's service area. You will also perform various related customer service functions and other assigned duties.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Six (6) months of courier experience preferred.
- Must be able to demonstrate strong area knowledge.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to lift 50 lbs independently.
- Ability to maneuver packages of any weight above 50 lbs with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person.
- Good human relations and verbal communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of the station's service area is preferred.
- Demonstrated skills in adaptability, dependability, and excellent courier methods.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to understand traffic signs, communicate with traffic safety officials, and respond to official inquiries and directions in accordance with FMCSA enforcement guidance.
Job Conditions
A neat appearance is required due to frequent customer contact. You must meet and maintain the qualifications outlined in federal motor carrier safety regulations, including passing a medical exam in accordance with FMCSA or FAA regulations. Specific requirements for operating a company vehicle are detailed in policy 4-48. A valid driver's license, in accordance with state requirements for the assigned vehicle type, and a good driving record as outlined in company policy are essential. This is a non-covered safety-sensitive position, requiring the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
