Your Role as a Senior Interoperability Specialist

As part of our Digital Health Excellence Center team, you will help lead German administrations (federal, state, and municipal) into the digital future, creating modern and secure systems for millions of people. The focus is on the digital transformation of the healthcare sector – from interoperable IT solutions to innovative Digital Health strategies. In this role, you will take on diverse tasks:

• Ensure seamless integration and communication between various IT systems in healthcare, such as electronic patient records (EHRs), clinical information systems, and medical devices.
• Collaborate with clinical teams, administrative units, and external partners to prioritize and resolve interoperability-related challenges.
• Evaluate and recommend interoperability standards like HL7, FHIR, IHE, xDT, or DICOM, aligning them with specific client requirements.
• Coordinate integration projects with software vendors and technology partners to ensure consistent and reliable interface solutions.
• Support business development through technical consulting, training, and the identification of new potentials in the healthcare market.

Your Skillset

• Completed degree in Computer Science, Medical Informatics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field with a strong IT focus, along with business-fluent German and English skills at C1 level; further certifications are advantageous.
• Minimum of 2–3 years of professional experience in healthcare with a focus on the conception and implementation of interoperability solutions.
• Deep understanding of medical system landscapes and interface formats (HL7 v2, FHIR, IHE), experience with standardized clinical data models such as openEHR or FHIR-repositories, and/or knowledge of semantic terminology systems like SNOMED CT, LOINC, or OMOP.
