Position Overview
The Data Protection and Privacy - Assistant Director Data Risk Manager supports risk management by identifying, managing, and monitoring risks. You will manage confidential and personal information, handle data subject rights requests, and investigate data incidents. You will act as the primary point of contact for client serving teams and work across Legal, IT, Investigations, and Executive Leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage confidential and personal information inventory.
- Respond to data subject rights requests and internal data access requests.
- Conduct investigations for data incidents and recommend remediation plans.
- Collaborate with Information Security to design data protection controls.
- Monitor and report on Data Protection activities to stakeholders.
- Track and analyze new data protection laws and update policies.
- Develop awareness and training communication plans.
- Build relationships across teams and mentor junior team members.
Skills and Qualifications
Strong communication, project management, and investigative skills are essential. You should be capable of independent decision-making, have a strong understanding of data protection laws and technology trends, and ideally possess privacy certifications such as CIPP or CIPM. A Bachelor’s degree is required, with a Graduate degree being preferred, along with 4-6+ years of relevant experience.
