Position Summary: Assistant Director, M3 Process CoE – Benchmarking Team

As an Assistant Director within EY's Global Delivery Services, M3 Process CoE – Benchmarking Team, you will be part of a global team focused on supporting pursuits and engagements through end-to-end process benchmarking. This role demands a strong functional understanding of core business processes, including Supply Chain, IT, Finance, Legal, Shared Services, and Cyber Security. You will partner with field practitioners to define project objectives, identify relevant client metrics, and facilitate data collection, validation, and benchmarking analysis to pinpoint specific improvement areas.

This position also involves supporting the management of the Benchmarking team, where you will supervise, develop, and mentor colleagues. Collaboration on developing sector and process-area-related benchmarking content and networking with global team members are crucial for consistent and seamless execution of functional objectives. Leveraging a strong working knowledge of benchmarking, analytic tools, and processes, you will collaborate with client engagement teams to address their needs and utilize benchmarking tools to develop necessary process metrics. Additionally, you will contribute to identifying and capturing best practices for continuous improvement within the Benchmarking group.

Job Responsibilities

Deliver Client Service(s):

  • Manage the benchmarking request intake and triage process, providing support to client teams.
  • Collaborate with client teams to understand their needs, efficiently routing requests to appropriate resources (Benchmarking, EY Knowledge, or relevant Subject Matter Resources).
  • Lead process benchmarking engagement delivery, reviewing data, tools, and content resources, and supporting projects across various processes such as Finance, Supply Chain, IT, HR, Legal, and Cyber Security.
  • Manage and drive content builds, overseeing all associated activities like planning and risk mitigation.
  • Act as a subject matter expert during customer interactions to understand requirements and identify relevant metrics and peer groups, mapping client processes to benchmarking frameworks.

Relationship Management:

  • Demonstrate strong executive presence, building and sustaining enduring relationships with key stakeholders in functions and the knowledge community.
  • Develop a network of key Service Line or Sector executives to foster benchmarking products and services tailored to their needs.
  • Cultivate relationships with other Knowledge functional teams and external vendors (e.g., APQC) to leverage their expertise in benchmarking projects.
  • Continuously raise awareness of the global benchmarking service offering among various service line stakeholders to ensure a steady stream of engagement support.

Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:

  • Manage content and data while ensuring compliance with firm policies (e.g., data privacy, Quality & Risk Management, Independence), understanding parameters for intellectual property sharing.
  • Lead multiple internal improvement efforts focused on enhancing benchmarking efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop and/or review benchmarking deliverables, integrating insights from content specialists, analytics teams, and client teams.
  • Provide quality reviews to ensure the highest standard of client deliverables.
  • Actively work to enhance proprietary datasets through client data collection and third-party data evaluation and purchase.
  • Support multiple internal initiatives to improve benchmarking efficiency and effectiveness, as well as Global Delivery Services (GDS) Transformation Zone team initiatives.
  • Assess appropriate use of firm branding, positioning, and visual identity.

Team Management & People Management:

  • Actively manage assigned team members, assigning tasks/projects and overseeing results.
  • Coach analysts on benchmarking activities, relationship management, and project management approaches, and review their work.
  • Interface regularly and frequently with team members across all global locations to ensure effective integration and high motivation.
  • Develop necessary reporting, oversight, and training to ensure consistency in client team experience across the global group of analysts.
  • Drive collaboration between GDS and global team members to ensure communication, information sharing, and robust development of technology-based solutions.
  • Take on people management and counseling responsibilities for Benchmarking Analysts based in GDS.
  • Proactively promote an inclusive work environment and flexibility to help team members achieve personal and professional goals.
  • Operate with minimal supervision in making knowledge integration decisions.

Knowledge And Skills Requirement

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Finance and Supply Chain functions, with exposure to IT, HR, Shared Services, Legal, and Cyber Security as a value-add.
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of analytics tools such as Spotfire and PowerBI.
  • Prior experience and hands-on expertise in business process transformation tools and techniques.
  • Strong customer service skills for request management and data collection.
  • Demonstrated ability in analytics, insight generation, data aggregation, and advanced Excel capabilities.
  • Excellent data aggregation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify, research, and synthesize large amounts of benchmarking data to deliver insightful solutions.
  • Demonstrates ability to identify new tools and technologies relevant for benchmarking operational and strategic priorities.
  • Proven ability to interact with leaders, stakeholders, and staff; strong presentation skills for multicultural audiences.
  • Ability to maintain and sustain relations with key sector and service line executives.
  • Proven ability to participate and work effectively as part of a team, including proactive collaboration in a globally distributed environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and successfully execute multiple, complex projects across borders.
  • Strong time management, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated, with strong work ethics; proactive in identifying issues and opportunities.
  • Proactively promote an inclusive work environment by participating in gender/diversity investment efforts.

Willingness to travel internationally, if required.

Education & Experience

  • M.B.A. or related Master's degree preferred.
  • 9+ years of professional experience applying benchmarking solutions in global professional services or related industries.

Other Requirements (Preferred)

  • Knowledge of data sources like APQC, CapIQ, Computer Economics, SNL, and others.
  • Knowledge of additional tools/platforms like Tibco Spotfire, Qualtrics, PowerBI, Excel/Access spreadsheets, and databases.
