Software Engineer
Experis is seeking a Software Engineer for an onsite position in Austin, TX. This role involves working with NI customers, sales personnel, engineering teams, and partners to design, deploy, and sustain NI products for large-scale turnkey engineering solutions. The ideal candidate will have experience with NI products and system-level design.
Core Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will be part of a cross-functional development team creating custom test systems for prime ADG customers. Your primary responsibility will be developing instrument drivers, test sequences, and applications using LabVIEW and TestStand for a variety of NI and third-party test equipment. You will also collaborate with Systems Architects and the Electrical Engineering team to provide guidance on design implementation, ensuring testability of systems. You will be responsible for handing off and supporting software test applications to customer engineering teams, including creating necessary documentation.
The Role Will Include
- Interacting with a wide variety of NI customers, NI staff, external alliance partners, and suppliers to support designing, implementing, and sustaining custom solutions.
- Defining and implementing system test plans, managing milestones, and conducting reviews to ensure systems meet requirements and are ready for deployment.
- Verifying developed tests to ensure compliance with and coverage of requirements.
- Traveling as needed domestically and abroad to support project objectives.
Minimum Requirements
Experience and Skill Requirements:
- US Citizen ONLY, with the ability to work on ITAR projects and qualify for DoD Clearances.
- B.S. Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another Engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience developing test software using LabVIEW/TestStand.
- Experience developing automated test software using PXI chassis and interfacing with: analog I/O cards, digital I/O cards, DMMs, oscilloscopes, National Instruments switching and signal routing systems, data acquisition devices, power supplies, RF analyzers, and RF power sensors.
- Knowledge of hardware interfaces such as GPIB, USB, Ethernet, and serial communication protocols.
- Understanding of high-level programming languages (LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++/C#, Python).
- Strong work ethic and drive to succeed.
- Demonstrated ability to: Work effectively in a diverse, multi-cultural group development environment; Problem-solve effectively – diagnose technical issues and propose reasonable solutions; Take initiative, be a self-starter, and work independently; Quickly learn applicable technology, systems, and products.
Preferred Skills
- Understanding of electrical engineering, electronics, and computer architectures.
- Experience developing and using system electrical schematics.
- Cross-platform development (Windows/Linux) experience.
- National Instruments Certification in LabVIEW.
- Experience developing in Python, C# or other high-level languages.
- Experience providing direct technical support to customers.
