The Landing Platform Team

The Landing Platform team builds the visual and interactive experience for Expedia Group’s landing pages; the entry point for customers starting their travel research. They deliver fast, polished, SEO‑friendly pages across all brands and business lines, ensuring they meet strict performance, accessibility, and Core Web Vitals standards. The team partners closely with designers, product managers, and backend engineers to create consistent, scalable landing experiences that support global traffic and prepare for the future of discovery, including AI‑driven and generative search models.

User Experience Engineers are responsible for shaping the end‑to‑end user experience of Expedia Group’s landing pages. They build the UI foundations that ensure pages load quickly, behave consistently, and maintain a high-quality visual standard across millions of URL variations. Their work directly impacts how customers first interact with Expedia’s travel products and how effectively these pages surface in both search engines and emerging AI‑based discovery tools. As part of a global platform team, User Experience Engineers also contribute to cross‑brand initiatives, experimentation, and the long‑term evolution of landing page architecture.

In This Role, You Will

  • Design, prototype, and implement high-quality user experiences for landing pages and shared frontend components on the Landing Platform, ensuring consistency and usability across multiple Expedia Group brands and surfaces.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, and backend engineers to translate user and business requirements into performant UI solutions, including well-structured APIs, data models, and low-level system design for frontend integrations.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize reusable UI libraries, design-system-aligned components, and tooling that can be leveraged across products and domains, driving standardization and fungibility for teams consuming the Landing Platform.
  • Instrument and analyze UX-related data (such as engagement, conversion, and performance metrics) to inform iterative improvements, A/B tests, and experiments on landing experiences, ensuring changes are grounded in data-driven decision making.
  • Implement and maintain robust accessibility, cross-browser, and cross-device behaviour for landing experiences, ensuring scalable, secure, and reliable delivery of features through modern CI/CD, testing, and monitoring practices.
  • Integrate and work with AI-driven systems, tools, and workflows in the UX engineering process, including safely integrating and operating AI/ML enabled solutions that improve outcomes for experimentation, content, or experience optimization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Professional experience as a UX Engineer, Frontend Engineer, or similar role building production web experiences, including ownership of features or services supporting one or more customer-facing surfaces.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with modern web technologies (such as React, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and component-based frameworks) and with system design at the UI layer, including API design and data modelling to support robust, maintainable frontend integrations.
  • Experience collaborating in cross-functional product teams (engineering, product, design) to deliver user-facing features end-to-end, from requirements through launch, with accountability for quality, performance, and operational stability.
  • Enthusiasm for using AI-powered tools (e.g., code assistants, test generators, documentation helpers) to accelerate learning and delivery, with a track record of using them responsibly to refine, review, and debug your own code rather than replace fundamental engineering judgment.
  • Awareness of and commitment to ethical AI use, including data privacy, security, and avoiding over-reliance on AI-generated outputs without appropriate validation and testing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing and evolving shared UX platforms, design systems, or multi-tenant UI component libraries used by multiple product teams or brands at scale.
  • Proven ability to use qualitative and quantitative data (including experimentation, A/B testing, and UX metrics) to drive design and implementation decisions for landing or growth-focused experiences.
  • Track record of contributing to or leading improvements in frontend performance, accessibility, reliability, and operational excellence for high-traffic web properties, including robust testing, monitoring, and incident response practices.
  • Experience safely integrating and operating AI/ML enabled solutions that improve outcomes, such as AI-assisted content, personalization, or experimentation capabilities, and applying these within UX workflows in a controlled and measurable way.
  • Hands-on experience applying AI/ML techniques within UX engineering, such as leveraging large language models or predictive models to generate, adapt, or personalize landing experiences while maintaining control, observability, and user trust.
