BI Developer at EXL

As a BI Developer at EXL, you will play a crucial role in transforming data into actionable insights, enabling informed decision-making across the organization. This position involves the full lifecycle of business intelligence development, from data extraction and modeling to designing and deploying interactive reports and dashboards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop interactive reports and dashboards primarily using PowerBI, with potential use of SSRS or Report Builder.
  • Write and implement complex DAX expressions to create custom measures and calculations within PowerBI.
  • Configure scheduled data refresh processes and manage Power BI Gateways to ensure timely data availability.
  • Implement Row Level Security (RLS) to control data access within reports and dashboards.
  • Establish connections to diverse data sources, including SQL Server, Excel, and various APIs.
  • Extract data efficiently from relational databases and other external systems.
  • Create, modify, and rigorously test SQL queries, stored procedures, and views for data retrieval from various source systems.
  • Design and develop new SQL and SSIS code to support ETL processes essential for PowerBI report development.
  • Support the development of multi-dimensional cubes using MDX in SSAS for specific applications and maintain existing SSAS assets.
  • Develop stored procedures and functions using T-SQL/SQL to automate report refreshes and data view generation.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in designing and developing interactive reports and dashboards using PowerBI, SSRS, or Report Builder.
  • Proficiency in writing complex DAX expressions for custom calculations.
  • Experience with Power BI Gateways, scheduled data refresh, and Row Level Security implementation.
  • Strong ability to connect to and extract data from various sources (SQL Server, Excel, APIs).
  • Expertise in SQL, including creating, modifying, and testing queries, stored procedures, and views.
  • Experience with ETL process design and development using SQL/SSIS.
  • Familiarity with multi-dimensional cube development using MDX in SSAS.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate effectively and professionally, even in challenging situations.
