Evernote is a note-taking and organization platform that millions of users rely on for powerful note taking, project planning, personal knowledge management, and more. Now part of Bending Spoons, it plays a key role in a portfolio of outstanding digital businesses united by a shared focus on innovation and operational excellence. By applying through the Evernote brand, you’ll be stepping into the wider Bending Spoons team. You may work directly on Evernote or contribute to one of our other leading products. Either way, you’ll be part of a high-performing, collaborative environment where you can make a real impact.

About Bending Spoons

At Bending Spoons, we’re striving to build one of the all-time great companies. A company that serves a huge number of customers, where team members grow to their full potential, functions at unparalleled levels of effectiveness and efficiency, creates extraordinary value for shareowners, and adheres to high ethical standards.

To achieve this, our strategy involves acquiring digital businesses with untapped potential and making them successful by leveraging our platform—comprising our expertise, technologies, data, brand, talents, and company culture. We then invest proceeds into enhancing our platform and acquiring new businesses, combining an investor’s attention to capital allocation with an operator’s hands-on approach.

For a talented, driven, and collaborative individual, working at Bending Spoons is an exceptional opportunity to learn, make an impact, and accelerate their career growth.

Your Responsibilities as a Software Engineer

  • Master your toolkit. You will work across diverse tech stacks in a full-stack, end-to-end scope, refining your ability to select the right tools for every challenge. This includes navigating from monolithic to microservices architectures, gRPC to REST APIs, Kubernetes to Docker, and Python to Rust, demonstrating that true expertise lies in understanding technology's purpose.
  • Build stuff that matters. Regardless of your seniority, you’ll enjoy significant autonomy and take full ownership of your work, from ideation to execution. You will have the unique opportunity to build software from the ground up and witness firsthand how your code evolves into a product used at scale.
  • Simplify relentlessly. As a Bending Spoons Software Engineer, your mission will be to transform complexity into simplicity. Whether optimizing CI/CD pipelines, writing maintainable code, or crafting minimalist architectures, your drive to simplify will power scalable, future-proof solutions.

What We Look For

  • Reasoning ability. You can solve complex problems given the necessary knowledge, think from first principles, structure ideas sharply, resist biases, and identify critical details.
  • Drive. You are extremely ambitious, with initiative, effort, and tenacity matching your ambition. You feel deeply responsible for your work and consistently hold yourself to a high standard.
  • Team spirit. You give generously, support the best ideas, are always willing to assist your team, and are reliable, honest, and transparent.
  • Proficiency in English. You read, write, and speak English proficiently.

What We Offer

  • Incredibly talented, entrepreneurial teams. You’ll work in small, result-oriented, autonomous teams with some of the brightest people in your field.
  • An exceptional opportunity for growth. We prioritize placing individuals of outstanding potential in ideal positions to thrive, with Spooners in their 20s leading products worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
  • Competitive pay and access to equity in the company. Salaries are competitive and vary by location and expected impact, with significant growth potential. For permanent contracts, you can receive company equity at a discounted price, participating in value creation. Relocating to Italy may also offer a 50% tax cut.
  • All. These. Benefits. This includes flexible hours, remote working options, unlimited backing for learning and training, top-of-the-market health insurance, a rich relocation package, generous parental support, and a yearly retreat to a stunning location. We support each Spooner in setting up optimal working conditions.

Commitment & Location

This is a Full-time position, offered on a Permanent or fixed-term contract. The role can be based in Milan (Italy), London (UK), Madrid (Spain), Warsaw (Poland), or remote in selected countries.

The Selection Process

Our screening process prioritizes verifiable signals of excellence, regardless of seniority. Don't self-reject if you feel you lack experience. If you pass screening, you’ll complete challenging tests that may involve unfamiliar problems and take several hours. We set a high bar, and offers are extended only when we are confident in finding the right candidate, which may mean a job remains open for months.

We consider all applicants and provide reasonable accommodations for disabilities. If you’ve applied before and didn't receive an offer, we recommend waiting at least one year before reapplying.

Before You Apply

Bending Spoons is a demanding, ambitious environment with high standards, leading to extraordinary learning and career growth but requiring significant commitment. To help you ramp up quickly and succeed, we recommend spending your first few months working from our Milan office, supported by generous travel and accommodation assistance. Afterwards, you are welcome to work from our offices in Milan or London, or remotely from approved countries, as agreed at the offer stage.
