Description

ESA is seeking a Space Transportation Data Processing System Engineer to join the Process Improvement and Intelligent Manufacturing team within the Directorate of Space Transportation. This role focuses on enhancing the manufacturing, assembly, integration, and logistics of European launchers through state-of-the-art technologies, innovation, and digital transformation. You will play a vital role in increasing the resilience and competitiveness of European launchers.

Duties

  • Manage and oversee space transportation data processing system projects, ensuring timely and within-budget completion.
  • Coordinate with project managers and stakeholders to align data processing strategies with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless integration of IT solutions with space transportation systems.
  • Manage the design, development, and maintenance of data processing systems for space transportation projects.
  • Implement and optimize data processing engineering workflows for enhanced system performance and reliability.
  • Conduct data analysis and provide insights to support space transportation decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with ESA and industry standards in information engineering and data processing.
  • Provide training and support on information systems and data processing tools.
  • Stay updated on advancements in information engineering and space transportation technologies.
  • Assist in evaluating and selecting new technologies to enhance information engineering capabilities.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and systems within the Directorate.
  • Act as a data processing expert, supporting the engineering team in smart manufacturing and data-driven process optimization.
  • Support STS-IVI engineers in assessing manufacturing technology applicability for industrial launcher activities.

Technical Competencies

  • Experience with space transportation systems or related technologies.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations in space transportation and information engineering.
  • Knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence applications in data processing.
  • Proven experience in the design and development of data processing systems (space or transportation sector preferred).
  • Proven experience in services management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proficiency in both English and French is required.

Education And Professional Experience

A Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline is required, along with 5 years of relevant professional experience.

Recruitment will typically be within the A2-A4 grade band. Candidates with less than four years of relevant experience post-Master's may be considered for the A1 level.
