Overview
The EIB Trainee - Digital Infrastructure role is based at the Luxembourg headquarters of European Investment Bank (EIB). This 5-month traineeship (with a possible extension of up to 6 months) offers a unique opportunity to work in a multi-cultural and international environment while contributing to shaping Europe’s digital future.
Objective
Join the EIB as a trainee to deepen your strategic and technical insight into emerging EU legislation impacting digital infrastructure and cybersecurity. You will review proposals on digital networks, cybersecurity, cloud, and AI, evaluate digital infrastructures, identify compliance gaps, and analyse investment needs aligned with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze EU legislative developments on digital topics.
- Assess European digital infrastructures for compliance and vulnerabilities.
- Estimate investment needs, timelines and operational challenges.
- Prepare briefings and impact assessments integrating technical and strategic insights.
- Engage in internal discussions and share knowledge on regulation and infrastructure readiness.
Academic Qualifications And Professional Skills
Final year students or University Graduates in fields such as Engineering (Telecommunications, Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering), Business, Economics, Public Policy, or related areas. An understanding of EU regulatory frameworks, digital infrastructure standards, strong analytical and research skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and good command of English are required. Additional knowledge in data analysis or modelling tools is a plus.
Additional Information
This role is available only to nationals of the EU Member States and select candidate countries. Note that those with overlapping Erasmus+ programmes will not be considered. Applicants are advised to limit submissions to a maximum of three traineeship publications.
