Overview
The EU Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process is seeking a Political Adviser. This position is based in Jerusalem/Tel Aviv and requires a secondment from Member States, EU institutions, or the EEAS. The role supports EU diplomacy in a conflict-sensitive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate incoming missions of the EUSR to Israel and the Palestinian Territory.
- Represent the EU Special Representative during absences.
- Report on and analyze political, economic, legal and security developments.
- Contribute to briefings, speeches, missions, and meetings.
- Establish and maintain relationships with diplomatic counterparts and international partners.
- Support field visits and travel as required, including visits to the West Bank and Gaza.
Essential Requirements
- EU citizenship with full rights.
- Master degree in a relevant field and minimum eight years of international experience.
- Experience in diplomatic or international missions, especially in conflict settings.
- Excellent negotiation, report writing, and analysis skills in English.
- Proficiency in computer skills and familiarity with social and political networking tools.
- Ability to work under stressful, deadline-driven conditions with strong interpersonal skills.
Recommended Qualifications
- Diplomatic or EU official status.
- Deep knowledge of EU institutions, EEAS, and the Common Foreign and Security Policy.
- International experience in the Middle East Peace Process.
- Additional language skills (French, Arabic or Hebrew) are an asset.
