Role Overview

Etsy is seeking a talented lawyer to lead its Global Privacy Legal team as a Senior Director Global Privacy. This role acts as a key advisor to legal, product, engineering, and security teams, offering strategic counsel to support Etsy’s growing global business.

Responsibilities

• Build, mature, and scale Etsy’s Enterprise Privacy Program.
• Oversee program governance, regulatory engagement, compliance and risk management.
• Lead a small team and provide individual contributor insights.
• Engage with leadership, board, and regulators on privacy issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, security, and government relations.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer admitted in the United States or Ireland.
• 7 to 10+ years’ privacy experience in-house or at top law firms.
• Expertise in CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, and UK data privacy laws.
• Experience in artificial intelligence regulation, cybersecurity, and data governance.
• Outstanding communication and strategic partnership skills.

Team Environment

The Privacy Legal team works across Etsy’s global offices, drafting policies, advising on risk, and supporting product development with timely and business-savvy legal advice.

Additional Information

This full-time position reports to the VP, Deputy General Counsel, Regulatory, Litigation & Marketplace Integrity. Candidates must be willing to work from Etsy’s Dublin office once or twice a week, based on proximity.
