Manual Machinist - Lathe Operator at EthosEnergy

Join our team as a Manual Machinist - Lathe Operator! EthosEnergy Aerospace & Defense in East Windsor, CT, is seeking a talented individual for our FAA-regulated workshop. We have both 1st and 2nd shifts available for those ready to advance their machining skills in a high-precision environment that values quality and innovation.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience Preferred: 2–4 years working with manual machining on lathes and/or CNC trained with willingness to learn Manual-Lathe machining operations.
  • Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required per FAA regulations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform quality work on conventional operated milling machines, lathes, and surface grinding machines.
  • Use of Measuring and Test Equipment to ensure all dimensional requirements are met.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines.
  • Work from and follow blueprints, diagrams, & written process instructions.
  • Work with engineers, production personnel, and others to resolve issues.
  • Inspect and document machinery for any needed repairs.
  • Make minor repairs on machinery as needed.
  • Any other duties as required by the Company.

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Company’s Policies & Procedures.
  • Knowledge of HS&E policy and able to interpret HS&E warnings.
  • Knowledge and Skilled in computer software (MS Office, Word, Excel and internet navigation).
  • Knowledge of machine shop equipment (CNC machines, lathes, mills EDM, etc.).
  • Knowledge of machine shop theory, shop mathematics and layout techniques.
  • Skilled in Oral and Written Communication (English).
  • Skilled in the use of dimensional measuring equipment.
  • Skilled in setting up, programming and operating machine shop equipment (CNC machines, lathes, mills, EDM, etc.).
  • Ability to machine and measure to close tolerances (.0002”) as required.
  • Ability to read complex blueprint specifications, charts, and follow work orders and engineering instructions as necessary.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
  • Ability to read and write the English language per FAA regulations.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to problem solve repair/overhaul problems.
  • Ability to work under limited supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet company deadlines.
  • Ability to focus on results, even when dealing with diverse, complex tasks for different jobs and projects.

Experience

2 - 4 years’ experience manual machining on lathes.

Education Requirements

  • College or vocational high school education in machining and machining practices.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certificate of completion of college or high school machining courses.

Physical Requirements

  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Good dexterity (grip, grasp, clutch).
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to sit/stand for up to 8 hours a day.
