Job Overview

The Certifying Scientist at Ethos Laboratories is responsible for quantitating MS data, final review of patient data and reports, and interacting with clients for report issues. The role involves toxicological examinations to identify and quantify target compounds, participation in method development, validation studies, proficiency testing, and other duties under the supervision of the Confirmation Supervisor.

Essential Functions

  • Final review and certification of patient reports for urine and oral fluid testing using point of care, EIA screening, and LC-MS/MS confirmation results.
  • Transcribe data and ensure completeness of patient demographics and test results.
  • Identify discrepancies concerning prescribed, non-prescribed, or illicit substances.
  • Document comments, complete internal rerun requests, and ensure quality control.
  • Operate mass spec instruments, analyze data, and transmit results to the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Participate in proficiency testing, validation, and method development under regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate with customers via phone for report inquiries and toxicology assistance.
  • Maintain strict adherence to established protocols, quality controls, and safety standards.

Requirements

Professional Requirements: Prompt attendance, advanced understanding of drug metabolism, forensic testing, knowledge of LC-MS/MS systems, high attention to detail, and proficiency with scientific software and instrumentation. Must be able to work independently, follow protocols, and ensure superior quality and timeliness.

Education and Experience: Master’s Degree in Life Science, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Biology, Physics or a related field; or a Bachelor of Science with 1 year of related experience. Preference for candidates with familiarity with LC-MS/MS and Agilent MS/LC systems.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
