Overview
In the role of a Database Engineer, you will work with a broad range of customers on enterprise database design and implementation strategies while applying Esri technology best practices. You will consult with customers to understand business and technical requirements, design enterprise data management strategies, and implement those strategies throughout the engagement life cycle. You will work independently and as part of project teams to configure back-end geospatial database management capabilities supporting ArcGIS web, desktop, and mobile applications.
This role supports Federal and Capitol region customers and is part of a talented cross-functional team delivering capabilities that enable global community impact.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with customers and partners to validate key GIS workflows.
- Develop enterprise database design and implementation strategies.
- Create logical and physical geodatabase models per Esri and industry best practices.
- Configure enterprise geodatabase maintenance and tuning strategies.
- Present complex GIS technical demonstrations to diverse audiences.
- Collaborate with software teams to enhance Esri capabilities.
- Support all phases of project implementation using consulting skills.
Requirements
- 5+ years in database architecture and administration (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, SAP Hana).
- Expertise in database design, data loading, storage, backup/recovery, and maintenance.
- Familiarity with geoprocessing tools, ModelBuilder, Python, and SQL.
- Understanding of geospatial concepts including spatial types and analysis.
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- US citizenship with ability to maintain a US Security Clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in a related STEM field.
Recommended Qualifications
- 2+ years administrating/customizing GIS-related technology using Python and SQL.
- Knowledge of GIS integration with enterprise systems.
- Industry-standard IT certifications (Esri, CompTIA, Microsoft, etc.).
- Master's degree in a related STEM field is a plus.
Total Rewards
Esri offers competitive total rewards including health benefits, 401(k), profit-sharing, generous vacation, paid holidays, and professional growth opportunities. Base salary range is estimated between $82,160 and $138,320 USD.
