Overview

EPAM Systems is seeking an experienced Cloud Database Engineering Manager to lead and drive our database engineering team toward operational and technological excellence. In this role, you will shape and implement strategies for modernizing database deployments and integrating emerging technologies while fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Steer the team toward a product ownership mindset for delivering database as a service offerings.
  • Develop a vision and strategy for modernizing SQL, SQL PAAS, NoSQL, Cosmos DB, MariaDB, and Postgres SQL technologies.
  • Transform team operations using CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Terraform, Ansible, GitHub, Azure DevOps, and Bicep.
  • Coach teams during cloud onboarding and application transformations.
  • Collaborate with Business, Enterprise Architecture, Security, and Networking teams to align systems and IaC migrations.
  • Manage externalized services like Oracle and DB2 and participate in 24/7 on-call rotations.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in database engineering or cloud infrastructure with leadership exposure.
  • Expertise in managing SQL, SQL PAAS, Cosmos DB, MariaDB, Postgres SQL, and NoSQL solutions.
  • Proficiency in CI/CD, IaC and tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Azure DevOps, GitHub, and Bicep.
  • Experience with cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Nice to have: experience with vendor and consultant management in database projects.
