About The Role
The Lead Engineer supports the Engineering Manager and the wider engineering team to ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of Envato's underlying infrastructure. This role involves long-term platform planning, enforcing best practices and uplifting infrastructure skills across the organization.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading: Drive initiatives for improved reliability, performance, and security.
- Infrastructure Engineering & Architecture: Design, build, and provision new infrastructure including integration with APIs.
- Mentoring: Review code quality and coach engineers directly.
- Availability & Monitoring: Enhance system uptime and respond to emergencies, incidents and production issues.
- Performance, Efficiency & Latency: Implement performance tuning improvements across the stack.
- Security & Risk: Participate in risk assessment and change management processes.
- Capacity Planning: Use monitoring insights to advise on capacity and scalability.
About You
You should have hands-on experience with automated failover, cloud-based applications, Linux administration, and monitoring tools. A strong background in both operations-focused and development-focused work is essential. Experience with CDN providers, DDoS mitigation, automation frameworks, and SQL database management is expected. Preferred skills include building self-healing systems, automated testing of failure scenarios, AWS, CloudFlare, Datadog, Rollbar, Sumologic, and agile environments.
