Job Description
About the Role
Join ENTRUST as a Technical Lead - Microgrid & BESS Design Engineering. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive IFC Design documents and project engineering support for our distributed energy and microgrid projects. Projects typically include managing a variety of DER and microgrid assets such as solar, energy storage, controls, and reciprocating engines. This position offers remote and hybrid options.
This role requires strong knowledge of industry standards (NEC, UL, ISO) and hands‑on experience designing system‑level schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation for BESS installations. The position involves close collaboration with project managers, technicians, and stakeholders to deliver successful projects, including performing factory acceptance tests and on‑site commissioning. Candidates should have a solid technical foundation in distributed energy technologies—such as solar, battery systems, and reciprocating engines/turbines—as well as experience with microgrid controls, demand management, BTM storage, EV charging infrastructure, and renewable generation modeling. Successful applicants will demonstrate strong project management capabilities, an understanding of DER integration and utility‑interface best practices, and familiarity with control strategies that optimize microgrid performance and economics. Proficiency in AutoCAD and experience preparing interconnection applications and reviewing utility studies are also required.

- Utilize your strong technical and communication skills to interface with all aspects of the business and customers.
- Work extensively with our Business Development (BD) teams to evaluate and develop the right technical solutions.
- Work with the BD, execution, and commercial teams on specific projects to ensure the integration of the Microgrid is technically correct, practical, and cost-effective. This includes working with existing service entrance one-line drawings, or creating new ones, to provide the best design interface for functionality and cost.
- Investigate the interconnection which includes modifications to existing design concepts that are applicable to each site.
- Manage engineering consultants in the preparation of detailed engineering and construction drawings and specifications.
