About the Role
ENTACT, LLC is seeking a skilled Light Equipment Operator to perform various job tasks on hazardous and non-hazardous waste sites. This role involves operating construction equipment, excavating, demolition, and material hauling, often in challenging environmental conditions.
Responsibilities
- Safely drive and operate construction equipment including haul trucks, loaders, skid steers, rollers, and mini excavators.
- Operate larger equipment like bulldozers and excavators as needed.
- Excavate, move, load out, or grade contaminated or non-contaminated earth.
- Perform demolition of structures such as buildings, storage tanks, and pipelines.
- Haul material in trucks and load/unload equipment from trailers.
- Lift and set heavy loads.
- Read and understand construction specifications, plans, and operating procedures.
- Coordinate machine operations with other activities and respond to hand/audio signals.
- Act as a flagger and spotter when necessary.
- Perform daily inspections and maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Identify and avoid potential hazards.
- Provide labor support for tasks like erosion control and geotextile placement.
- Assist with safety documentation and promote Stop Work Authority.
- Work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines and maintain a safe, high-quality culture.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This role operates on outside construction sites with rugged terrain. You may work in dusty, windy, and hot environments, and potentially in confined spaces. Exposure to airborne dusts, mists, fumes, and vapors may occur. The job requires significant physical activity, including climbing, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, and balancing. You will use both hands, arms, feet, and legs extensively. Specific demands include sitting for long periods in vibrating machinery, climbing in and out of equipment, repetitive motion from controls, cleaning equipment in wet conditions, and working from elevated platforms. Lifting objects up to 50 lbs. may be required. Work may be performed in loud environments, and frequent use of respiratory equipment is expected.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Various types of PPE will be required, including hard hats, hearing protection, eye protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shields), safety vests, gloves, steel toe boots, and respiratory protection (dust masks, half/full face respirators, SCBAs, APRs) depending on site conditions. Protective coveralls may also be necessary.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience operating light construction equipment, preferably in environmental remediation.
- Experience with larger construction equipment is a plus.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- HAZWOPER 40-hour training and current refresher certification.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license.
- Construction driving experience with various haul trucks and wheeled construction equipment.
- Ability to wear PPE as needed.
- Open to frequent and extended travel to project sites nationwide/regionally.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $22-27 per hour plus overtime.
