The Computer Draftsperson is responsible for delivering high-quality, detail-oriented drafting support for substation and network infrastructure projects within an electrical utility environment. This role plays a key part in producing, maintaining, and quality-controlling critical engineering drawings while supporting standards development, process improvements, and junior team members.
Major Responsibilities
- Provide CAD services for substation drawings for internal project work, and CAD review of external consultant drawings
- Create, revise and maintain substation operating SLD drawings, for operation needs and confidential customer projects
- Create, revise and maintain various substation drawings including logic drawings, schematic drawings, bus layout/elevation drawings, wiring drawings, cable index drawings, record drawings and other miscellaneous drawings
- Create, revise and maintain various network vault and manhole structural details drawings
- Conduct reviews (QA/QC) of drawings
- Create and revise substation projects drawings for; conceptual, issued for review (IFR), issued for construction (IFC), record drawings, and complex Field Files.
- Maintain current knowledge of ENMAX standards and documentation pertinent to substations work and network structural work
- Develop resources and contribute to development of processes and workflows relating to drafting
- Modify and maintain a variety of record databases
- Provide training and guidance for less experienced team members
- Maintain project time accounting information
Education
- Two-year technical diploma such as Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or Architectural Technologies
- Certificate in Electrical Design would be considered an asset
- Courses in advanced CAD concepts and CAD system administration or equivalent experience
- Education or experience with databases and programming or scripting would be considered an an asset
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ Years computer drafting experience including 2-3 years’ experience in the Electrical utility environment
- Drafting experience working with substation drawings as well as network vault and manhole structural detail drawings
- Advanced knowledge of Bentley MicroStation
- Experience using Bentley ProjectWise
- Experience using other CAD platforms is an asset
- Experience working with traction power system drawings is an asset
- Experience working with AutoCAD is an asset
- Experience troubleshooting MicroStation and AutoCAD software problems is an asset
- Experience customizing and configuring MicroStation and AutoCAD is an asset
- Experience reconciling geographic data from different surveys or coordinate systems is an asset
- Experience testing software deployment I.T. would be considered an asset
- Experience working for an electrical utility or related consultant is an asset

Location
This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) workforce with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
