Summary – Basic Function Of The Role
The Senior Global Trade Compliance Analyst in Madrid, Spain, acts as a subject matter expert responsible for facilitating and advising on international trade compliance matters within the EMEA region. The role supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Enerpac’s global trade compliance program and ensures adherence to import/export regulations, export controls, sanctions, and customs requirements.
You will manage day-to-day trade compliance activities, provide guidance to business units, collaborate with customs brokers and service providers, and ensure accurate trade data within business systems.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Act as regional subject matter expert for international trade compliance and provide guidance to business units.
- Manage day-to-day import and export customs formalities and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Support sanctions, embargo, and restricted party screening programs and resolve potential matches.
- Classify products (HS codes, ECN, export control jurisdiction) and maintain accurate master data in Oracle GTM.
- Apply for, manage, and maintain export licenses and authorizations.
- Determine and maintain country of origin and preferential trade agreement status.
- Collaborate with and oversee customs brokers and external trade service providers.
- Monitor trade compliance data and activities within business systems and support customs valuation priorities.
- Deliver trade compliance training and communicate policies, procedures, and controls.
- Identify compliance risks, improvement opportunities, and regulatory changes.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with HSSE rules and company policies.
Skills And Competencies
- Strong knowledge of international trade compliance regulations.
- Experience with import/export operations and customs requirements.
- Understanding of export controls, sanctions, and embargo regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience with Excel analytics is a plus.
- Knowledge of IT coding / data is a plus.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced global environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working with ERP and trade compliance systems (Oracle GTM preferred).
- Ability to work independently on a local site, while working with a global team.
- Proactive, independent, and structured working style.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant direction (for example supply chain, law international business administration).
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in international trade compliance.
- Experience within complex international supply chains and technical product environments.
- Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English. Other languages are a plus.
- Experience working with or at a customs broker or freight forwarder is a plus.
