The Opportunity

QBE Europe is recruiting an IT Project Manager to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis, focusing on change within the Insurance sector. You will be responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing key projects or workstreams within a broader program of change across QBE Portfolio Solutions (QPS). QPS is a market-leading smart-follow business operating within QBE Europe's International Markets division.

You will manage cross-functional teams and vendors, working closely with business stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget. These projects usually cost in the region of £1-2m, some more technically focused than others. All require clear communication and careful management of any changes. Having the right to work in the UK is a requirement for this role. QBE may consider sponsorship at its discretion.

About QBE

At QBE, we get to the heart of what matters for our customers, all with a human touch. We're an international insurer with more than 13,000 people working across 26 countries – big enough for your ambitions, yet small enough for you to make a real impact. It's an exciting time as we build momentum towards our vision to become the most consistent and innovative risk partner.

As part of the QBE team, you'll work with passionate, talented, and kind people, making a positive impact both at work and in the world.

Your New Role

  • Spearhead and oversee the end-to-end management of projects for QPS, ensuring successful delivery within scope, time, and budget, then ensuring smooth transition into day-to-day operations.
  • Work with the Business, Transformation Office, and Data teams to understand and shape initiatives, leverage new technical capabilities, develop, and present business cases clearly outlining project timelines, costs, and benefits for approval to proceed.
  • Create and manage project and resource plans to ensure successful delivery of business requirements.
  • Develop communication strategies to keep all relevant teams informed with key messages.
  • Set, manage, and report on project budgets, ensuring costs stay within agreed limits.
  • Identify and effectively manage project risks and issues, implementing solutions and coordinating testing to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Identify and manage dependencies with other projects or internal business areas/stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, external suppliers, and business stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Lead and support the project team, manage third-party resources, and ensure effective coordination of project tasks and responsibilities.
  • All stages of delivery to align to project assurance standards.

About You

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Proven experience in project management, ideally within the insurance or financial services sector.
  • Great leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain objectivity and fairness, always reflecting the facts and offering a balanced view.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential issues before they arise.
  • Ability to build and manage strong relationships with stakeholders, understanding their needs and resolving issues effectively.
  • Responsiveness to shifting priorities with urgency and a strong sense of drive.
  • Open and honest communication, fostering a culture of transparency and trust.
  • Creation of clear, impactful reports, proposals, and presentations that engage and inform.
  • Experience of managing project budgets effectively, ensuring financial awareness throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams, maximizing the potential of multi-skilled resources to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Awareness of data governance and how it supports the delivery of effective analytical outcomes.
  • Qualifications in Project/Programme Management desirable.
