Job Summary
As a Cyber Security Intern at Empyrean, you will play a critical support role in protecting the organization’s computer systems and networks. This internship offers hands-on experience in security monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability assessments under the guidance of experienced professionals.
You will collaborate with team members to enhance IT security processes and promote cyber security best practices while receiving mentoring and hands-on training in your key areas of interest.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Security Monitoring: Assist in monitoring alerts, logs, and threat intelligence feeds.
- Incident Response: Support investigation, documentation, and remediation of incidents.
- Vulnerability Management: Help with vulnerability scans and patch management.
- Policy & Documentation: Assist in maintaining internal security policies and procedures.
- Threat Research: Research emerging cyber threats and industry best practices.
- Tool Support: Gain exposure to firewalls, SIEM, and EDR systems.
- Compliance & Audits: Contribute to compliance activities and risk assessments.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work with IT, networking, and development teams.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Curious, self-motivated, and eager to learn
- Familiarity with basic cybersecurity concepts is a plus
- Willingness to contribute to process improvements
Knowledge, Experience, and Education Requirements
Applicants must be full-time students enrolled in a relevant degree program (Cyber Security, Information Technology, or related fields) or recent graduates (May 2025 or later). Familiarity with technical concepts related to cyber security, disaster recovery, and business continuity, as well as exposure to cyber security tools, is beneficial.
