Job Overview: Data Engineer
The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data solutions that ensure high-quality data for analysis and business transactions. The role involves building scalable data pipelines, optimizing databases, and collaborating with data scientists and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable data pipelines for batch and real-time processing.
- Develop and optimize data models, ETL/ELT workflows, and integrate systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to produce data solutions.
- Implement data governance, security, and quality standards.
- Lead projects and contribute to architectural decisions, using cloud-native tools on AWS and optionally Azure or GCP.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and enhance data infrastructure performance.
- Automate processes and optimize data workflows to reduce costs.

Required Skills and Experience
- Proficiency in SQL and Python with experience in ETL/ELT workflows.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and big data tools like Glue, EMR, Redshift, Lambda, and Databricks.
- Familiarity with streaming frameworks (Apache Spark, Kafka) and CI/CD practices.
- Experience with Git, Airflow, and infrastructure as code.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field.
- 2-12 years of data engineering experience, with at least 1-2 years in Agile environments.
- Experience leading a small team or technical mentorship is a plus.
Additional Preferences
- Healthcare or pharmaceutical domain experience.
- Certifications like AWS Certified Data Engineer and Databricks Certified Data Engineer.
- Familiarity with integrating AI/ML workflows into data pipelines.
