Job Overview: Data Engineer

The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data solutions that ensure high-quality data for analysis and business transactions. The role involves building scalable data pipelines, optimizing databases, and collaborating with data scientists and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable data pipelines for batch and real-time processing.
  • Develop and optimize data models, ETL/ELT workflows, and integrate systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to produce data solutions.
  • Implement data governance, security, and quality standards.
  • Lead projects and contribute to architectural decisions, using cloud-native tools on AWS and optionally Azure or GCP.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and enhance data infrastructure performance.
  • Automate processes and optimize data workflows to reduce costs.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Familiarity with streaming frameworks (Apache Spark, Kafka) and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience with Git, Airflow, and infrastructure as code.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field.
  • 2-12 years of data engineering experience, with at least 1-2 years in Agile environments.
  • Experience leading a small team or technical mentorship is a plus.

Additional Preferences

  • Healthcare or pharmaceutical domain experience.
  • Certifications like AWS Certified Data Engineer and Databricks Certified Data Engineer.
  • Familiarity with integrating AI/ML workflows into data pipelines.
