As a Senior Level Designer at Eleventh Hour Games, you will craft engaging, memorable, and replayable environments that define the player experience. You’ll take ownership of level design from concept to polish, creating gameplay spaces that balance flow, combat rhythm, and visual storytelling. You’ll collaborate closely with design, art, and engineering teams to bring the world of Last Epoch to life, building spaces that challenge, reward, and inspire players. This role requires both strong creative instincts and technical understanding of modern game engines and tools.Responsibilities
- Design, prototype, and implement levels that deliver strong gameplay loops, pacing, and player progression.
- Collaborate with environment art, narrative, and systems design teams to ensure cohesive worldbuilding and gameplay integration.
- Develop layouts and encounter designs that align with the game’s combat systems, enemy AI, and player abilities.
- Apply player feedback, analytics, and iteration to refine level flow, difficulty, and readability.
- Optimize levels for performance, accessibility, and scalability across multiple platforms.
- Ensure levels meet artistic, design, and technical quality standards throughout development.
- Contribute to documentation, feedback sessions, and ongoing refinement of the level design pipeline.
- Mentor mid-level and junior designers, helping maintain consistency and design excellence across the team.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional level design experience in the game industry.
- Proven track record of shipping at least one title as a level designer.
- Understanding of encounter design, pacing, and environmental storytelling.
- Proficiency with modern game engines and level design tools such as Unreal or Unity.
- Familiarity with gameplay scripting and event systems.
- Communication, documentation, and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.
- Ability to balance creative vision with technical constraints and production timelines.
- Familiarity with ARPGs, live-service pipelines, and multi-team collaboration.
Preferences
- Experience with ARPG or action-combat-driven games.
- Understanding of procedural design tools and modular environment workflows.
- Interest in mentoring and contributing to team best practices.
- Passion for player experience and iterative design grounded in gameplay feel.
