About The Role: Short Form Video Editor/Animator

As a Short Form Video Editor/Animator, you will be responsible for delivering best-in-class, social-first video content for Veritasium across both editorial and branded content. This pivotal role involves shaping impactful, audience-led formats for YouTube Shorts, Instagram, and TikTok, with the goal of growing reach, strengthening brand presence, and unlocking commercial opportunities.

Working closely with editorial, production, and commercial teams, you will drive creative innovation in short-form video. This includes translating complex scientific ideas into engaging, accessible, and visually distinctive content specifically optimized for social platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit and produce high-quality, social-first short-form video content, optimized for platform performance at every stage.
• Design and animate clear, engaging motion graphic sequences that bring complex scientific concepts to life.
• Edit branded short form video content, collaborating with the sponsorship sales team and pitching ideas for brand briefs.
• Lead the post-production process end-to-end, covering editing, sound design, graphics, animation, and versioning.
• Adapt content effectively for multiple platforms, including YouTube Shorts, Patreon, and Facebook.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing speed, quality, and budget while maintaining creative standards.
• Ensure all output consistently meets Veritasium’s editorial, brand, and client expectations.
• Proactively develop and evolve new short-form formats and creative approaches in collaboration with editorial and commercial teams.
• Provide strong creative direction across both editorial and branded content projects.
• Brainstorm, test, and pilot new ideas with a clear understanding of social-first audience behavior and performance metrics.

Skills And Experience

• Proven track record delivering high-performing social-first video for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
• Strong technical expertise in editing and post-production workflows, with advanced experience using Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
• Skilled in motion graphics, keyframe animation, and basic visual effects.
• Strong understanding of platform algorithms, best practices, and audience engagement drivers.
• Data-led mindset, capable of studying competitors and iterating on successful strategies.
• Commercially aware, balancing creative ambition with brand and business objectives.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, fostering effective collaboration across teams.
• Highly organized, managing multiple priorities and deadlines efficiently.
• Clear and confident communicator.
• Knowledge of emerging AI tools for video production and practical application in workflows.
• Proactive, collaborative, and innovative approach to social-first storytelling.
• Good understanding of the STEM short-form video competitor space.
• Interest in science.
• Ability in 3D animation software (e.g., Blender) is a nice-to-have.
