Unit Clerk Position Overview
The Unit Clerk at Elderwood supports residents by ensuring proper documentation, managing secretarial duties, and coordinating appointments and supplies in a healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
- Audit and maintain medical records and required documentation.
- Close records following hospitalization or permanent discharge.
- Perform secretarial functions including typing, mail distribution, and answering call lights.
- Coordinate forms preparation for meetings and assessments.
- Schedule appointments for residents including consults and lab draws.
- Manage inventory and requisition supplies for the unit.
- Handle confidential resident information with discretion.
- Assist with obtaining statistics for reports and surveys.
- Help with resident transportation and administrative support tasks.
- Attend facility and staff meetings, and in-service sessions.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 16 years old; HS diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Valid Employment Certificate/Permit for applicable individuals.
- Basic office and secretarial skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Understanding of confidentiality and medical terminology.
- Effective communication skills in English.
