The Role of a Social Media and Content Manager
Elastic seeks a creator-first, strategic content leader to manage daily execution across social platforms, specifically focusing on evolving YouTube into a key storytelling and discovery channel. Reporting to the Head of Social Media & Editorial, this role involves creating unique, platform-native content and shaping Elastic’s presence across social channels, from short-form posts to narrative-driven programming designed for sustained audience engagement and brand credibility.
We are looking for someone who is hands-on in content creation, understands platform-native storytelling (especially video), and possesses the strategic judgment to translate editorial direction into high-impact social and YouTube programming.
What You Will Be Doing
- Create original, platform-native content for social channels (primarily LinkedIn) and YouTube, with a strong emphasis on video, visual storytelling, and emerging formats.
- Own Elastic’s Social Media (LinkedIn, X, Bluesky, Instagram) and YouTube channel strategy and execution, including programming approach, publishing cadence, and content optimization.
- Translate editorial direction and story priorities into social- and video-first content that performs effectively on each platform.
- Partner with designers, video teams, and creators to develop compelling assets that are native, timely, and distinctive.
- Lead the day-to-day social media and YouTube content engine, ensuring consistency, quality, and momentum across channels.
- Shape Elastic’s presence across LinkedIn, X, YouTube, and emerging platforms, demonstrating a strong understanding of format, audience, and algorithms.
- Help define best practices for video, creator-led content, and platform experimentation.
- Work closely with the Storyteller lead to ensure social and video content aligns with broader narrative and editorial themes.
- Partner with Product Marketing, PR, Brand, and Executive Comms to support launches, announcements, and key company moments.
- Collaborate with agency partners on strategy, analytics, and social listening while maintaining strong in-house creative ownership.
- Monitor performance across social and YouTube, focusing on engagement, retention, and audience growth beyond vanity metrics.
- Use performance insights to iterate on formats, storytelling approaches, and publishing strategy.
- Contribute to reporting and performance reviews that inform broader social and editorial strategy.
What You Bring
- 6+ years of experience in social content, digital media, or video-led storytelling roles.
- A strong creator portfolio, particularly in social video or YouTube-adjacent formats.
- Deep understanding of how social content performs, including algorithms, formats, and audience behavior.
- Strong curiosity and working knowledge of AI-powered tools, with a passion for using AI to streamline workflows, surface insights, and accelerate content development.
- Experience translating complex or technical topics into clear, engaging visual and video content.
- Strong creative judgment combined with strategic thinking, knowing when to experiment and when to optimize.
- Comfort working cross-functionally in a fast-paced, distributed environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate closely with writers, editors, designers, and strategists.

- Experience building or evolving a branded YouTube channel.
- Background in B2B tech, developer audiences, cybersecurity, or AI.
- Experience working alongside agencies while owning in-house execution.
- Experience with paid social amplification, including post boosting, thought leader ads, and collaborating with demand or paid media teams to extend the reach and impact of high-performing organic content.
- On-camera experience or comfort directing talent and subject matter experts.

Compensation & Benefits
This role offers competitive base salary compensation. The typical starting salary range for this role is $106,900—$169,100 USD. In select locations (Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, San Francisco Bay Area CA, New York City Metro Area), an alternate range of $128,200—$202,700 USD may apply. Salary placement depends on factors like education, qualifications, experience, skills, and geographic location.
In addition to cash compensation, this role is eligible to participate in Elastic's stock program and includes a company-matched 401k up to 6% of eligible earnings, along with other benefits focused on employee well-being.
