The Role: Senior Engineering Manager, Workplace AI Search

Elastic Agent Builder, our newly launched platform, empowers developers to rapidly build and deploy powerful, production-ready AI agents directly on Elasticsearch. This platform leverages the world's most sophisticated search relevance, vector database, and retrieval-augmented generation capabilities. With intuitive context engineering primitives, natural language-to-ES|QL translation, customizable tools, secure data access, full observability through tracing and logging, and seamless API or Kibana integration, you can ship reliable, data-grounded agents in minutes that interact with enterprise data, reason effectively, and take intelligent actions. As an Engineering Manager for this high-impact product, you will shape the future of AI agent development at Elastic, addressing exciting challenges in agentic workflows, hybrid search, personalization, and scaling context-driven intelligence for the world's largest organizations. What You Will Be Doing

• Drive the technical vision and execution for the Elastic Agent Builder platform, with a focus on agentic workflows, hybrid search, personalization, and scaling context-driven intelligence.
• Lead and manage a dedicated team of engineers, conducting frequent 1-on-1s, delivering quarterly reviews, leading “All Hands” discussions, and actively onboarding, coaching, and mentoring team members.
• Collaborate closely with other Tech, Team, and Product leads to define and execute the product roadmap, acting as a crucial and communicative part of an engaged and upbeat team.
• Help navigate customer experiences in partnership with our extraordinary and empathetic support teams, working effectively with diverse people and roles across the organization.

What You Bring

• Proven experience managing a team of people at scale, demonstrating flexible people management, rapid growth adaptation, servant leadership, and comfort with performance management.
• Experience with remote management, understanding its unique challenges compared to in-office management and optimizing for a distributed environment.
• Background as an individual contributor in an engineering role, having shipped quality code into delightful applications and possessing knowledge of how high-performing teams build robust systems.
• Bonus: Experience in building and shipping AI-based products that operate reliably at enterprise scale.
• Measured and articulate written and spoken communication skills, enabling effective collaboration and the crafting of concise and expressive correspondence (emails, issues, investigations, documentation, onboarding materials).
