The Role
As an Electrical Designer – Traffic Signal & Roadway Lighting Design at Egis Group, you will lead and contribute to the design, production, coordination, and management of traffic signal and lighting projects. You will develop designs using AutoCAD and/or Microstation including layout, single line diagrams, wiring schematics, photometric layouts, grounding details, and conduct voltage drop and conduit capacity calculations. Additionally, you will coordinate utilities for electrical infrastructure and transportation-related projects, prepare technical reports and tender documentation, and provide field support such as commissioning, traffic signal turn-on, and site inspections.
Job Responsibilities
- Design traffic signals and illumination layouts for clients.
- Prepare wiring diagrams and electrical details.
- Conduct photometric analysis and voltage drop calculations.
- Prepare contract documents, specifications, and technical reports.
- Perform site visits and contract administration.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: Undergraduate degree or Technologist diploma in Electrical Engineering and 5+ years of relevant experience in construction design-consulting.
Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years’ experience in traffic signal and streetlighting design in a design-consulting or utility environment, proficiency in AutoCAD, Microstation, AGI32/Autolux, familiarity with municipal and MTO standards, and experience with O.Reg 22/04 certification and utility liaison.
