This full-time Senior Tax Strategist, High Net Worth position at Edward Jones is critical for shaping the future of client service, focusing on helping clients achieve their financial goals. Team Overview
The Edward Jones Generations® team offers an end-to-end high net worth (HNW) client experience. This involves partnering with branch teams to provide ongoing client services, including holistic financial planning, tax and estate planning via trusted third parties, plan implementation through Edward Jones products and services, and continuous reporting and support.
What You Will Do
- Support Senior planners and collaborate with home office and third-party experts to assist financial advisors in delivering high-quality Advice, Planning, Products, and Services (APPS) for High Net Worth clients' wealth management and tax planning needs.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for complex cases requiring deep technical knowledge and extensive tax planning expertise, demonstrating an understanding of how legislative and regulatory changes impact HNW tax planning.
- Support the implementation of comprehensive tax planning strategies and recommendations.
- Communicate effectively with financial advisors, the High Net Worth team, and clients to understand needs, document goals, articulate strategies, identify necessary expertise, and build relationships.
- Act as a conduit to third-party tax planning and legal advice providers, setting expectations for timely advice and customized deliverables, ensuring alignment with Edward Jones' guidance.
- Facilitate the timely delivery and execution of tax planning advice between third-party service providers and the High Net Worth team.
- Lead or actively contribute to key strategic initiatives/projects within Wealth Management Advice & Solutions (WMAS) supporting the HNW strategy, collaborating with internal/external stakeholders.
- Work in partnership with Edward Jones internal stakeholder groups (Trust Co, Compliance, Legal, Service, Operations, Home Office Portfolio Strategist, etc.) to ensure alignment and evolution of HNW business segment and APPS strategies.
- Help shape and inform High Net Worth client-facing advice and guidance related to complex tax planning and provide input on future products and services.
What Experience You Need
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or Law required.
- CPA or Masters of Taxation required.
- Series 7 and 66 required within 6 months of hire.
- Insurance license required within 6 months of hire.
- Ability to travel up to 10% to target markets.
- CFP® preferred or obtained in accordance with firm policy.
- 11+ years of experience in the financial services industry preferred.
- Direct client service experience as a member of a High Net Worth client-facing professional team required.
- Understanding of Financial Advisor and Branch Team Support Member(s) processes, including Core Wealth, Banking, and Financial Planning offerings.
- Ability to interpret and leverage firm advice and guidance to create tailored client solutions.
- Proficiency using financial planning software or tools and interpreting results.
- Deep understanding of financial planning concepts and application.
- Deep expertise in complex tax planning strategies, including Charitable Remainder Trusts (CRTs), Private Foundations, Donor Advised Funds, Trust taxation, Roth conversion analysis, pass-through entity taxation, 1031 Exchanges, Deferred sales trusts, equity-based compensation, net unrealized appreciation, and business sales considerations.
- Ability to understand, explain, and identify appropriate application of these strategies for clients.
- Familiarity with implementation of these strategies for High Net Worth clients.
- Ability to review client tax returns, gift/estate tax returns, personal financial statements, and other legal documents to identify tax planning opportunities.
