Responsibilities of an Associate Financial Planner
As an Associate Financial Planner, you will support Financial Planners in ensuring client satisfaction while adhering to all regulatory requirements. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Performing comprehensive financial planning analyses for clients, covering retirement, investments, estate planning, tax strategies, education funding, real estate, and risk management.
- Preparing presentations, conducting research, and gathering supporting materials for client meetings and reviews.
- Assessing evolving financial planning needs of clients and prospects, proactively identifying new opportunities.
- Generating various reports, including those on minimum distributions, investment performance, billing, insurance policies, and tax implications.
- Calculating required minimum distributions, income needs, tax consequences, and contribution/withdrawal strategies.
- Engaging with clients to maintain and enhance client relationships through high-level communication.
- Demonstrating a strong understanding of the financial services industry, relevant products, and market trends.
Requirements for the Role
To be successful in this Associate Financial Planner position, candidates should possess:
- A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably within a broker/dealer or registered investment advisor setting.
- FINRA Series 65 license is required.
- A Bachelor's degree in business or finance, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- The Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation is preferred.
- Experience in financial services and insurance sales is a plus.
- A solid understanding of finance, investment markets, and securities.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong coordination abilities, and effective follow-up skills.
- The capacity to prioritize multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel is essential.
Compensation and Benefits
Edelman Financial Engines offers a competitive, market-based approach to compensation. The anticipated annual base salary range for this role nationwide is $83,500 to $111,300. The final salary will be determined based on factors such as responsibilities, skills, experience, location, and market conditions. This position may also be eligible for additional compensation and benefits, including a discretionary bonus, health, dental, and other wellness plans, and 401(k) contributions.
