Position Summary: Pharmacist IS Analyst
The Pharmacist IS Analyst at ECU Health leverages pharmaceutical clinical knowledge and expertise to build and support the Epic Willow Inpatient Application. This role is crucial for managing medications impacting Epic Beacon Oncology protocols and therapy plans, as well as fulfilling other medication-related requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize pharmaceutical clinical knowledge to build and support Epic Willow Inpatient Application and Epic Beacon Oncology protocols.
- Support formulary requests, applying understanding of pharmacy operations and data analytics.
- Evaluate clinical operations and analyze workflows to recommend process improvements.
- Translate operational needs into functional requirements for application development.
- Identify, define, and develop solutions for application and system problems.
- Lead management of clinical knowledge databases (e.g., drug-drug interactions), guideline compliance rules, and decision support tools.
- Create and manage a standardized formulary, considering its impact on ancillary systems across a multi-site healthcare environment.
- Collaborate with the Manager of Pharmacy Applications to improve patient care through technology.
Minimum Requirements
- BS/Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree, registered/licensed with the North Carolina State Board of Pharmacy.
- Residency training in inpatient pharmacy practice, drug information, or inpatient pharmacy administration, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience involving pharmacy practice, drug information, or pharmacy administration required.
- 2+ years of Information Technology/Clinical Systems experience preferred.
- Operational knowledge of healthcare areas such as nursing, perioperative services, emergency department, and support services.
- Ability to perform simple to moderate qualitative and quantitative analysis for medication requirements.
- Proven ability to manage clinical knowledge databases, guideline compliance rules, and decision support toolsets.
- Obtain and/or maintain current vendor certification for the electronic health record.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with IT best practices (build tracking, change management, end user testing, integrated testing, mock live, go-live support, transition to support).
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with competing priorities.
- Strong communication skills to interface clinical concepts with technical teams and system designs with end users.
- Ability to effectively validate and support clinical applications.
