General Description
The Quality Assurance Specialist provides quality support services to the Head Start Director and support staff. The role involves monitoring and reporting on program quality in line with Head Start/Early Head Start Performance Standards, NAEYC/APPLE Criteria, and state regulations, ensuring compliance and timely reporting.
Major Responsibilities
- Monitor program quality and adherence to guidelines and standards.
- Review and monitor staff, child, home-based, volunteer, intern, and substitute teacher files.
- Assess compliance in classroom, playground, and family home settings; document observations in Child Plus.
- Review ERSEA files and monitor health and safety initiatives.
- Prepare and submit accurate, timely reports.
- Maintain proficiency in relevant software tools.
Organizational Relationship
This position reports to the Quality Assurance Manager.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, Health Administration, Social Work, or related field preferred.
- 1-3 years of related work experience preferred.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Good interpersonal skills with staff and parents.
- Knowledge of program databases and report writing software.
- Ability to work independently with sound judgment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Basic accounting principles understanding.
- Data tracking, monitoring, and analytical skills.
- Confidentiality and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Certifications
- Valid driver’s license and proof of automobile coverage.
- Satisfactory Driving Record per company policy.
- 15 hours of in-service/professional development training each fiscal year.
Environmental Conditions
- Works in an office setting with local travel to multiple sites.
- Occasional minimal night, weekend, or out-of-town work.
Essential Physical Skills
- Acceptable eyesight and hearing (with or without correction).
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (accommodations available if needed).
