Job Description

Cloud Engineer at ECS

ECS is seeking a Cloud Engineer to support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) DCCO contract. This role provides technical leadership to a team of engineers and is responsible for the design, implementation, operations, and maintenance (O&M) of the multi-tenant Web Content Management as a Service (WCMaaS) platform. This includes managing all aspects of the underlying infrastructure, such as servers and storage. The Cloud Engineer will continuously enhance the platform, leveraging secure, scalable, cost-effective, and operationally sustainable cloud solutions.

This role requires deep expertise in cloud services, infrastructure automation, DevSecOps, open-source ecosystems, enterprise solution design, and software and infrastructure engineering practices. The ideal candidate brings strong technical leadership, the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, and the ability to adapt solutions to evolving requirements and priorities. The Cloud Engineer will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to establishing best practices that enhance delivery processes across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Independently apply a wide set of engineering disciplines for planning, design, analysis, coding, testing, roll-out and support of information systems architectures.
  • Continuously optimize AWS Cloud platform services across all integration points.
  • Interact closely with key project stakeholders to design, plan and implement operationally sustainable solutions.
  • Work closely with the technical team to deliver proposed designs.
  • Provide thought and design leadership.
  • Serve as a technical SME for cloud services, providers, and platforms.
  • Lead solution architecting sessions evaluating tradeoffs between design, risk, and cost.
  • Problem solve challenges as they arise.
  • Adapt designs to new requirements or discoveries.
  • Leverage data driven approach to continuous solution, organization, and workforce improvement.
  • Optimize performance across multiple teams by suggesting delivery process transformation towards evolving best practices based on each team and project context.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
  • 5+ years’ experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to pass a Public Trust investigation.
  • Related experience including a broad background in various technology solutions, including: Cloud Services, Infrastructure Automation, DevSecOps, Open-Source Ecosystems, Application Programming, Service Oriented Architecture, Enterprise Architecture.
  • Deep working knowledge of all aspects of Cloud Development Platforms including IT operations, virtualization, containerization, networking, storage, disaster recovery, security policy and controls implementation, system management, and data migration.
  • Expertise in enterprise solution design, SOA models and approaches to enterprise cloud solutions, and promotion of architecture principles along with conducting research in specific technology areas and being up-to-date with the latest of industry trends on application architectures.
  • Significant expertise in existing cloud computing technology: public, private, and hybrid, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
  • Proficiency in Linux and Ansible.
  • Very good written and oral presentation skills and outstanding client-interaction skills.
  • Creative thinking and ability to work independently or with a group on complex tasks with little direction, supervision, and management oversight.
