Overview

ECS Tech Inc is seeking a Data Engineer/Architect for the San Diego, CA office. This role is a contingent position based on additional funding. The successful candidate will join the effort to establish a Common Digital Foundation (CDF) – a shared, secure, and interoperable foundational data platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement a next-generation data architecture for the CDF.
  • Create and manage robust data pipelines from diverse data sources.
  • Develop and implement data standards, procedures, and governance protocols.
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate technologies and tools.
  • Ensure data curation maintains accuracy and integrity.
  • Collaborate with analysts and scientists to ensure accessible and reliable data solutions.
  • Design and implement effective data storage solutions (cloud or on-premise).
  • Document data architecture, pipelines, catalog, and ETL capabilities.

Qualifications

  • 10-15+ years of experience in data engineering and architecture.
  • Proven experience with data pipelines, storage solutions, and infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java).
  • Experience with data visualization, warehousing, ETL frameworks, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks, security practices, and quality assurance.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Degree in Computer Science or related field; advanced degree is a plus.
  • Secret Clearance required.
