Mechanical Engineer at ECS Tech Inc
ECS Tech Inc is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to work in our Silver Spring, MD office. The role involves design integration experience with shipboard mechanical systems, contributing to an engineering team that develops procurement specifications for research ships.
Responsibilities
- Technical evaluation of vendor proposed system designs.
- Assess design maturity and expected system performance.
- Assess piping system design using PipeFlow.
- Write technical papers on risk related to ABS/USCG/IMO standards.
- Review and modify drawings; perform shipboard material inspections.
- Develop ship alteration packages.
- Travel to vendors, shipyards, and NOAA locations, including possible overseas travel.
Qualifications
- BS degree in Mechanical, Marine, or other engineering disciplines.
- 6-10+ years of experience in the shipbuilding industry.
- Expertise in system design calculations and verification.
- Experience with ship concept/preliminary design development and feasibility studies.
- Proficiency in ShipConstructor, Pipe Flow, Rhino, Navisworks, SolidWorks, and other ship design software.
- Understanding of ABS, USCG, and other regulatory standards for ship piping and mechanical systems.
Work Arrangement & Location
This position is based in Silver Spring, MD with a requirement to be in the office at least 3 days per week.
