Job Description

Position Overview:

Reporting to the VP of Marketing, the Creative Director is responsible for elevating the Creative Hub to its full potential and making Earth Rated unmissable wherever shoppers encounter us. In this role, you will lead an omnichannel creative engine that turns insight into standout storytelling - from packaging and retail to campaigns and digital - to drive awareness, love, and conversion.

This role will steward and optimize a creative system currently being built, ensuring continuity, operational excellence, and brand consistency while thoughtfully evolving the function alongside the VP of Marketing.

What you’ll need to Succeed:

You blend big-picture brand vision with hands-on craft. You’re fluent in CPG realities and strong in retail packaging, with the judgement to adapt for eCommerce without losing brand integrity. You can step into an established creative system, maintain its integrity, and evolve it strategically without unnecessary disruption. You coach and inspire a high-performing team, collaborate seamlessly with cross functional teams and external partners, and can translate insights (PDP conversion, campaign performance, creative testing) into ongoing creative optimization. You obsess over details, move with urgency, and consistently ship beautifully crafted creative that stands out in busy retail environments and across every touchpoint. You are comfortable rolling up your sleeves when needed, from refining copy, adjusting layouts, or directing shoots, while maintaining strategic oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

Brand Strategy & Creative Vision:

  • Lead the creative expression of the Earth Rated brand across all channels, translating insights and priorities into a cohesive omnichannel narrative and design system.
  • Protect and uphold the current brand direction and system while identifying incremental opportunities to strengthen impact and clarity.
  • Instill an innovative, forward-looking mindset; leverage trends, insights, and technology.
  • Ensure creative consistency in both visuals and messaging, across digital platforms, print, packaging, photography, video and retail experiences. Owns brand guidelines & TOV.
  • Own packaging within the brand system: define on-shelf hierarchy and variant architecture, set when/how to create digital-pack adaptations for eCommerce, and ensure accurate, press-ready handoffs.

Integrated Campaigns & Performance:

  • Collaborate cross-functionally, aligning between creative output and broader team objectives, and ensuring on-time, high-quality asset delivery.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Manager on the execution of marketing windows and new product launches, ensuring campaigns are aligned with product priorities, deadlines, and objectives.
  • Translate consumer insights and strategic priorities into compelling creative campaigns and deliverables.
  • Drive traffic and conversions through innovative creative solutions tailored to diverse customer segments and channels.
  • Run a structured test & learn program, applying learnings to future work.

Team Leadership:

  • Provide stable, confident leadership to the creative team, reinforcing clarity, accountability, and operational discipline.
  • Forecast capacity, prioritize work, and optimize the mix of in-house resources and external partners against timelines and budget.
  • Inspire, coach and develop a multidisciplinary team. Participate in recruiting when needed.
  • Performance Management - setting goals, monitoring performance, providing feedback, and conducting performance evaluations for members of your team.
  • Team member Development - Identify training and development needs for team members, and provide opportunities for learning and growth.
  • In tandem with the P&C department, address employee relations, concerns and conflicts within the team.
  • Maintain and strengthen existing workflows and documentation to ensure continuity before and after the maternity leave period.

Execution Excellence:

  • Lead the ideation, production, and delivery of high-quality creative assets within deadlines, ensuring alignment with brand and business objectives.
  • Manage departmental budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation and alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Cultivate partnerships with external agencies and freelancers as needed for specialized expertise.
  • Establish clear processes and timelines (briefs, review gates, QA, version control, and legal approval) to maintain quality standards, delivery discipline and documented sign-off.
  • Define and uphold eCommerce standards for PDP/A+ content to improve content health and conversion across retailers.
  • Build localization-ready toolkits and layouts that preserve brand integrity while enabling efficient international adaptations.
  • Ensure creative operations remain disciplined and well-documented to allow for seamless handoff and knowledge continuity.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Design, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in creative leadership roles, preferably in CPG or retail.
  • Proven track record of leading creative teams and managing cross-functional projects.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in digital, print, packaging and retail creative execution.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma and familiarity with project management tools.
  • Passion for storytelling and building brands that inspire.
  • Experience leading retail packaging design systems.
  • Experience collaborating closely with eCommerce teams to improve PDP/A+ content performance.
  • Demonstrated experience working in-house within a fast-paced CPG or retail organization (strongly preferred).
