Your Role as a Courier

As a Courier at Dynacare, you play a crucial role and act as a true representative of the company. You are responsible for the pickup and safe delivery of medical samples in a courteous, timely, and respectful manner. These samples have important medical outcomes and treatments for physicians and patients, so we rely on your efficiency, accuracy, and careful transport. Even seconds of delay can make a lasting difference to a client’s healthcare needs. This role not only allows you to make a real impact in your work, but also lets you do so while having flexibility in your daily life. This is a casual, on-call position, for ad-hoc client requests, vacations, and absences. This position is based on-site at 67 Frid Street, Unit 1A, Hamilton, ON, with varying shifts Monday to Sunday for coverage of sick calls and vacations.

How YOU Will Make a Difference

• Being super-attentive to detail in ensuring all samples are picked up as scheduled for clients.
• Deliver medical reports reliably and other mail to all locations on assigned route.
• Act as the representative of the company and must be courteous, informative, and professional at all times.
• Be responsible for the safety and security of the vehicle always.

What YOU Bring To The Role

• You bring a positive approach and a friendly attitude combined with a laser-focus on quality.
• Strong teamwork skills, but you can work independently while being punctual and reliable.
• You have a valid G driver’s license with a 3-year clean driving abstract.
• Physically able and can lift up to 50 pounds (lbs.).
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a commercial driver/courier role.
• Transportation of Dangerous Goods certified.

Working Conditions

The role involves lifting and transporting specimen bags, supplies and waste from different locations. You will experience movement in and out of vehicles, carrying items up and down on stairs and in and out of buildings. You must have the ability to lift 50 pounds, walk on stairs and continuously get in/off a vehicle. The job requires dealing with body fluids and hot and cold weather. Driving in city and on the highway (either day or night), possibly for long hours or to out-of-town/rural locations, and handling TDG regulated substances are also part of the role. A Criminal background verification & clear driver abstract must be met as a condition of employment.

Compensation

The pay rate for this casual Courier position ranges from $19.50 to $23.25 per hour. The final pay offer will be determined by taking into consideration various factors including but not limited to, level of experience and education requirements.
