Overview

At Durham University, a centre of educational excellence, we pride ourselves on our diverse community and historical setting. We are seeking an Assistant Finance Manager to join our Financial Planning & Analysis team.

The Role

The Assistant Finance Manager supports budget holders by preparing management information, financial reports and analysing financial data. This role involves:

  • Ownership of assigned professional services departments
  • Ensuring accurate and complete financial records
  • Supporting Finance Business Partners in planning and forecasting
  • Leading change management and continuous improvement initiatives

Location & Work Arrangement

This role is based at Boldon House, located on the outskirts of Durham near the Arnison Centre in Pity Me, with hybrid working (minimum 2 days per week in-office).

Person Specification

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • A finance qualification (e.g., AAT level 4, or ACCA part-qualified)
  • Expertise in finance and management accounting
  • Experience in policy implementation and providing financial advice
  • Excellent communication and digital skills (Microsoft 365, ERP systems)
  • Ability to work independently and plan, organise, and manage workloads
