At Durham University, a centre of educational excellence, we pride ourselves on our diverse community and historical setting. We are seeking an Assistant Finance Manager to join our Financial Planning & Analysis team.
The Role
The Assistant Finance Manager supports budget holders by preparing management information, financial reports and analysing financial data. This role involves:
- Ownership of assigned professional services departments
- Ensuring accurate and complete financial records
- Supporting Finance Business Partners in planning and forecasting
- Leading change management and continuous improvement initiatives
Location & Work Arrangement
This role is based at Boldon House, located on the outskirts of Durham near the Arnison Centre in Pity Me, with hybrid working (minimum 2 days per week in-office).

Person Specification
Applicants should demonstrate:
- A finance qualification (e.g., AAT level 4, or ACCA part-qualified)
- Expertise in finance and management accounting
- Experience in policy implementation and providing financial advice
- Excellent communication and digital skills (Microsoft 365, ERP systems)
- Ability to work independently and plan, organise, and manage workloads
