About the Role

This Staff Product Designer role is pivotal in Duolingo’s Design team. You will be a key creative partner for nearly every project including mobile apps, website, brand voice, email newsletters, and community events. The role requires a balance of strategic leadership and hands-on design work.

  • Work on user experience across language app features.
  • Play a leadership role in the product design team.
  • Collaborate closely with designers, engineers, and product managers.
  • Engage with both broadly defined concepts and focused tactical features.
  • Utilize a mix of internal and third-party AI tools.

Responsibilities

You will partner across teams to refine the entire experience from copy to animation, ensuring a fun yet effective user interface.

What You Bring

  • An online portfolio with mobile or web design samples.
  • Experience in a consumer application, product, or software role.
  • A relentless attention to detail and desire for excellence.
  • Ability to articulate your design process and use feedback effectively.
  • Experience using AI tools like ChatGPT and Cursor for prototyping.

Exceptional Candidates Will Also Have

  • Experience managing early-career designers.
  • Background in high-paced tech start-ups.
  • Illustration and/or animation skills.
  • Experience leading or participating in user research sessions.
  • Background in shipping AI-driven products.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $200,000—$300,000 USD. Additional equity and world-class benefits are provided. Your recruiter will share more specific details during the hiring process.
