Who We Are

DuckDuckGo is the online protection company and remote-first team of 300+ professionals on a mission to raise the standard of trust online. Founded in 2008 and profitable since 2014, annual revenue now exceeds $100m USD. Millions use our browser on Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android along with our search engine and subscription service. Our culture is built on trust, inclusivity, and empowered project management where each team member takes full ownership, from scoping to postmortem.

Your Team and Role

As the Engineering Director, Browser Platform, you will lead the team that builds and evolves the core web platform for our private browsers on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. Your leadership ensures that our browsers remain fast, stable, and private by design. You will define architectures that empower product teams to deliver innovative features while reducing fragmentation across platforms. This is a leadership role intersecting browser engines, platform integration, and privacy innovation.

About You

You are a seasoned leader with 10+ years of experience managing technically strong development teams on large consumer-facing products, especially on desktop platforms. You have held senior leadership roles (Director, VP) and possess a proven track record in people management, coaching, and mentoring. Direct experience with browsers such as Chromium, WebKit, or WebView and modern C++ (C++14 or newer) is essential, along with exposure to languages like C#, Swift, Kotlin, or Rust.

Compensation & Benefits

The role offers $243,800 USD annually with stock options. Compensation is standardized across professional levels and locations. Additional benefits include paid parental leave, office setup allowances, and co-working allowances.

Hiring Process & Work Environment

The hiring process emphasizes mutual evaluation. Candidates will participate in video conferencing meetings and are expected to travel occasionally for team meetups and retreats. The flexible work environment allows full-time (40 hours per week) commitment without fixed core hours.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

DuckDuckGo is committed to equal work opportunities and prohibits any form of discrimination. Reasonable accommodations are available upon request during the application process.
