Role Overview
The Director of Human Resources leads people operations with a focus on mission alignment, compliance, and staff development at Drug Policy Alliance. The role includes building an equitable workplace culture, overseeing HR operations such as payroll, benefits, compliance, and systems management. Responsibilities also include professional development and management of the intern program.
Key Responsibilities
- People & Culture Leadership: Develop HR strategies and foster an inclusive workplace.
- HR Operations & Compliance: Ensure legal compliance and manage payroll and HRIS systems.
- Compensation & Benefits: Oversee benefits administration and staff well-being programs.
- Talent Development & Performance: Design and implement professional development initiatives.
- Internship Program: Recruit, onboard, and supervise interns ensuring meaningful experiences.
Skills and Experience
Candidates should have a minimum of 7-10 years in progressive HR roles, with strong expertise in employment law, payroll, benefits administration, and professional development. A commitment to social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion is essential, along with excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
Compensation and Hours
This full-time, exempt position offers a salary range of $100,000-$130,000, comprehensive health benefits, a 403b retirement plan with matching, 20 days vacation plus additional leave, and a hybrid work schedule based in New York City.
