Role Overview: Senior Network Engineer, Corporate IT
As a Senior Network Engineer, Corporate IT at Dropbox, you will be a crucial part of the Infrastructure Engineering organization, responsible for the network infrastructure connecting users to Dropbox services. This role specifically focuses on Dropbox’s multi-cloud environment (GCP, AWS, OCI, and Azure), partnering with SREs, Network Reliability Engineers, and other Infrastructure Engineers. You will design, build, and operate this environment, ensuring its reliability, scalability, and security, while driving improvements in automation, observability, and cost efficiency. This position offers the opportunity to tackle complex, large-scale infrastructure challenges across cloud networking, compute, storage, and service delivery, helping to shape the next generation of Dropbox’s cloud architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of Dropbox’s global cloud and corporate network environments across AWS, GCP, OCI, and Azure.
- Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure health utilizing tools like Datadog and synthetic testing frameworks.
- Contribute to Cloud migrations and optimize enterprise wireless performance.
- Develop, test, and maintain infrastructure automation using Terraform, Ansible, and Python for streamlined provisioning, configuration, and change management.
- Build and maintain observability dashboards and alerts to monitor network and cloud performance, availability, and cost optimization.
- Author and maintain detailed runbooks, operational documentation, and training guides to foster shared understanding and robust reliability practices.
- Partner with the Security team to enhance Dropbox’s network segmentation, traffic inspection, and zero-trust posture across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
Required Qualifications
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field involving coding, or equivalent practical technical experience.
- 9+ years of experience as a Cloud, Cloud Network, or Infrastructure Engineer in production environments.
- Strong knowledge of cloud networking concepts, including VPC/VNet/VCN, routing, IP addressing, Transit Gateway / Virtual WAN / DRG, and IPsec VPNs.
- Proven experience with major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, GCP, and/or OCI.
- Experience with hybrid connectivity (Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, Interconnect, FastConnect).
- Solid background in network security, encompassing firewalls, WAF, and Zero Trust principles.
- Proficiency with Terraform and Ansible for Infrastructure as Code and automation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in cloud network architecture, including hub-and-spoke or transit-based designs and multi-region deployments.
- Experience with cloud-native and third-party security platforms, such as WAFs, network firewalls, or Zero Trust / ZTNA solutions.
- Experience developing or supporting CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and network deployments.
- Familiarity with observability and logging platforms, and their application in improving reliability through metrics, logs, and traces.
