Job Description

About Dragonfly's Portfolio Protocol Engineer Role

Dragonfly is a leading crypto-native Venture Capital and research firm managing over $4B in assets across 160+ portfolio companies. Their Talent team actively supports these portfolio companies by connecting them with skilled candidates. This specific posting is not for an internal Dragonfly role but serves to connect you directly with one or more of their portfolio companies actively seeking Protocol Engineers across various levels and specializations. Even if your background doesn't perfectly align, if you're an engineer passionate about crypto, you are encouraged to apply as other opportunities may be a better fit.

What Our Portfolio Companies Seek

  • Deep experience building and deploying blockchain protocols or decentralized systems at scale.
  • Strong proficiency in Rust, Go, or other systems-level languages.
  • Experience with blockchain architecture, cryptographic primitives, or consensus algorithms.
  • Familiarity with smart contract development (CosmWasm, Solidity, or similar frameworks).
  • Interest or experience in open-source contributions, blockchain security, or crypto-native research.

About the Protocol Engineer Role(s)

Depending on the specific team within Dragonfly's portfolio, your responsibilities as a Protocol Engineer could include:

  • Designing and shipping new blockchain protocols with a focus on scalability, security, and decentralization.
  • Conducting advanced crypto and protocol research, exploring cutting-edge cryptography, zero-knowledge proofs, and novel consensus mechanisms.
  • Building cross-chain interoperability solutions, enabling seamless communication between different blockchains.
  • Improving and upgrading existing protocols, directly contributing to live, high-impact blockchain ecosystems.
  • Collaborating on open-source initiatives working closely with crypto-native communities to push the space forward.

Even if you don't perfectly match every requirement but are a seasoned engineer passionate about crypto, we encourage you to apply, as other suitable opportunities may exist.

Application Process

  • Your profile will be confidentially matched with portfolio companies based on your background, skills, and interests.
  • If there's mutual interest with a team, Dragonfly will facilitate a warm introduction.
  • If no immediate match is found, your profile will be retained for future relevant opportunities.

Dragonfly's portfolio companies are globally distributed, offering remote, hybrid, and in-person roles worldwide. They are actively building across the entire crypto ecosystem, including DeFi, CeFi, infrastructure, L1s and L2s, creator/consumer applications, NFTs, ZK, Crypto x AI, and more. All candidate submissions are handled with strict confidentiality. Submit your information, and Dragonfly will be in touch if there's a potential fit.
