About the Role
DP World, a fast-growing transportation and logistics leader managing over 10% of world trade, is seeking a detail-focused Solutions Engineer, Automotive Accounts to join our regional Contract Logistics Solutions Engineering team.
As a Solutions Engineer for our Automotive Key Accounts, you will lead the end-to-end design of scalable supply chain solutions — from high-level network and geographic optimization to detailed process, line, and workstation design — playing a pivotal role in complex RFQ and customer proposal processes. Acting as a technical authority and mentor, you will shape robust, data-driven concepts, translate them into compelling customer proposals, and guide junior engineers in delivering high-impact, executable solutions. This role is well suited to professionals with a strong solutions engineering background, as well as engineers with hands-on experience in automotive production or plant environments who are looking to broaden their impact across customer-facing and strategic projects.
This position requires flexibility to travel up to 100% of the time, and we welcome applications from candidates based in Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland or Hungary.
Your Responsibilities
- Leading the design of end-to-end supply chain solutions, from high-level network and geographic optimization to detailed process, line, and workstation design within RFQ activities.
- Developing and shaping robust engineering concepts for customer proposals, including process flows, KPIs, and facility layouts, in collaboration with the wider Engineering team.
- Partnering closely with Business Development, Account Management, Launch, and Operations teams to co-create practical, customer-focused solutions.
- Presenting technical solutions confidently and clearly to customers through proposals, virtual meetings, and formal presentations, alongside commercial stakeholders.
- Translating awarded RFQs into fully detailed engineering designs to support successful project launch and implementation.
- Supporting and, where appropriate, leading the engineering elements of new business launches, including master data setup, process validation, infrastructure readiness, and on-site coordination.
- Acting as a key interface between regional engineering functions and local site teams, ensuring strong alignment throughout RFQ and launch phases.
- Converting high-level operational objectives into structured, data-driven solution designs and support their deployment into live operations.
- Contributing to regional and global engineering initiatives, supporting standardization, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.
- Serving as a subject-matter expert in engineering processes, tools, and methodologies (e.g., MTM, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Excel), applying them effectively to real-world challenges.
- Identifying operational bottlenecks and improvement opportunities, leading root cause analysis where appropriate, and ensuring sustainable corrective actions are implemented.
- Supporting the development and capability-building of plant-based engineering teams, embedding regional standards and best practices across sites.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (such as Engineering, Supply Chain, or Operations) and professional experience that demonstrates strong technical and operational expertise.
- Practical experience applying Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to improve processes, efficiency, and quality in complex operational environments.
- Advanced digital and system skills, including strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g. pivot tables, formulas), as well as Word, Visio or equivalent process-mapping tools, and project management software; experience using AutoCAD to design and visualize solutions in both 2D and 3D formats.
- Confidence in interpreting quantitative and qualitative data, performing structured analysis, and drawing clear, evidence-based conclusions to support decision-making.
- Demonstrated experience in project delivery and operational environments, with the ability to manage scope, timelines, and stakeholders effectively.
- Fluency in spoken and written English is essential, with fluency in the German language being highly desired.
- Experience supporting change initiatives, with an understanding of how to guide teams through transitions in a structured and empathetic way.
- A detail-oriented and organized approach, with a consistent focus on quality, accuracy, and follow-through, ensuring commitments are met and standards are upheld.
- A strong client-focused mindset, with the ability to understand customer perspectives, translate their requirements into practical solutions, and represent their interests effectively within engineering and operational teams.
- Highly developed communication skills, including strong listening capability, clear and professional written communication, and the confidence to present complex information tactfully and credibly to individuals or groups at all levels.
- A collaborative working style combined with the ability to work independently, demonstrating self-management, reliability, and a positive, solution-oriented mindset when balancing multiple priorities.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel extensively across Europe (up to 100% of the time) to support on-site audits, project delivery, and operational alignment.
