Automation Technician Role at DP World
DP World is hiring an Automation Technician (PLC) responsible for commissioning systems and managing all automation software and hardware related to Drives, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), PCs, and other control systems installed on Quay Cranes (QC’s).
How Will You Contribute
- Develop understanding of automation software to troubleshoot PLCs, Drives, and control systems.
- Play an active role in commissioning new Quay Crane Automation systems.
- Monitor QC performance and propose continuous improvement strategies.
- Assist in spare parts procurement planning based on maintenance trends.
- Troubleshoot hardware aspects of control systems to improve reliability.
- Manage version control, documentation and backup of software updates.
- Provide training to technicians and team leaders on automation and troubleshooting.
- Support H&S policy implementation and maintain documented RAMS for maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with suppliers and end users to optimize QC performance.
- Participate in new projects to improve equipment monitoring and reliability.
What You Will Bring
- National Qualifications Framework – Level 3 or higher.
- Excellent knowledge of PLCs, AC drives, and control systems.
- Experience in automated systems commissioning, configuring and programming software.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in automation programming/commissioning.
- Strong communication, technical report writing and HSE practices knowledge.
- Eligibility to work in the UK and a valid driving licence.
- Ability to work within safety critical guidelines.
