About This Role
As a Project Specialist at Dow, you will lead small cross-functional project teams that deliver business process and IT solutions. This role requires understanding key business drivers to lead project planning and management throughout the project lifecycle, from initial concept to successful support model. You will be accountable for budget, contingency planning, scope, issue, and risk management. The Project Specialist helps improve productivity, streamline business processes, facilitates better business decisions, and builds solid customer relationships.
You will need to expand your conceptual and working knowledge related to your discipline or functional area and provide informal guidance to new team members, explaining complex information clearly. Your responsibility includes using technical experience, established practices, and personal judgment to analyze and resolve straightforward problems. Your performance directly impacts the quality of your own work and your team’s work, requiring adherence to established guidelines and policies.
Responsibilities
- Uses expanded conceptual knowledge to determine project approach and schedule, develops and reviews estimates, and creates project plans and tracking metrics across all phases (Design, Build, Test, Implement, etc.).
- Manages the overall schedule for project delivery with guidance, measuring and monitoring progress through phase and deliverable reviews.
- Is aware of dependencies across projects within a program and integration with other projects.
- Builds and manages relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, monitoring their progress and adherence to schedule.
- Works with teams on quality assurance, manages budget forecasting and cost control, and handles project issues, risks, and contingency planning, escalating as needed.
- Ensures projects follow the defined methodology to deliver solutions and supports teams with scope change requests and schedule implications.
- Performs budget, scope, issue, and risk management tasks by estimating information technology project costs and collaborating with external service providers.
- Completes project performance reports.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in an IT discipline is preferred, or a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
