About the role

Specification Writer - Remote

dormakaba is seeking a remote-based Specification Writer. The Specification Writer is responsible for writing architectural specifications to support end users, architects, and design build firms. The specification writer will support the entire portfolio of dormakaba’s solutions and products. The Specification Writer will interact with architects, contractors, and owners throughout the process of developing solutions, publishing specifications, complying with owner’s standards, and managing the submittal process.

What You Will Do

  • Provides project specifications covering the entire portfolio of dormakaba products, solutions, and services within all the North American businesses.
  • Ensures that all specs written are designed with the appropriate solutions for the facility and the specific functions of the end user/owner.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all specifications meet relevant building codes and local codes that are applicable to the project.
  • Prepares catalog cuts and product specific information as requested by the architect.

What we require

  • 8+ years’ experience in the door and hardware industry.
  • Proven knowledge of IBC-International Building Code, NFPA 101-Life Safety, NFPA 80-Fire Doors and Frames, NFPA 105 and all ADA-Americans with Disabilities Act compliance regulations.
  • Extensive experience writing specifications within the relevant sections of CSI’s Master Format Division 8, 10, 11 and 28.
