About The Opportunity

DMI is seeking an ADABAS Database Specialist DB2 to provide expert-level technical support with planning, configuring, implementing, and maintaining Software AG’s ADABAS products in an enterprise z/OS mainframe environment. This role is critical for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of mission-critical ADABAS Cluster Services and business continuity.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Plan, install, configure, customize, and implement SAG ADABAS software products.
• Configure support for structured/unstructured data, SQL, Natural, and security features.
• Plan and execute disaster recovery strategies including offsite restoration.
• Manage table spaces, assist DBAs with parameter settings, and optimize databases.
• Configure and optimize ADABAS Cluster Services and add-on tools.
• Implement buffering strategies to reduce CPU consumption and improve performance.
• Monitor, analyze, and tune database performance with resource reporting.
• Support compliance audits, regulatory requirements, and OPM change processes.
• Provide technical guidance to PMO, DBAs, and system design teams.
• Troubleshoot Natural program dumps and resolve performance issues.
• Plan and perform migrations or conversions to platforms like DB2 or Oracle.
• Support z/OS parameters and IBM CICS tuning for optimal performance.
• Automate ADABAS startup/shutdown using Tivoli System Automation.
• Apply SAG software fixes and updates for operational continuity.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 12 years of experience in SAG’s ADABAS systems and at least 5 years hands-on with ADABAS on z/OS.

Required And Desired Skills/Certifications

• Hands-on experience with ADABAS Cluster Services in IBM z/OS Parallel Sysplex.
• Experience with ADABAS Suspend/Resume for Point-in-Time copy support.
• Proficiency with SAG products such as PREDICT, REVIEW DB, REVIEW Natural Monitor, Natural Security, and Natural Optimizer Compiler.
• Experience in developing disaster recovery procedures for ADABAS.
• Expertise in CPU optimization, high availability maintenance, and performance tuning.
• Support of CICS Natural applications in CICSPlex environments.
• Strong understanding of z/OS operating systems and IBM CICS parameters.
• Experience with software migrations and applying released fixes.
• Excellent communication and technical consultation skills.

Clearance & Citizenship

Successful completion of a Public Trust background investigation is required. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
